    Automatically linking live experiences captured through a ubiquitous infrastructure.

    The objective of investigation presented in this paper is to support the automatic linking among live experiences captured through C&A applications, towards providing information related to the captured experience accessed later by users. Then, we defined an infrastructure composed by a “document builder” to process captured information as XML documents, a “linking builder" to identify semantic relationships between the captured content, a “storage manager” to store the XML corresponding to the captured session and the hyperlinks identified, and a “presentation manager” to manipulate style sheets that allow users to access the captured content in a variety ofpresentation formats. To illustrate the results of our work, we present hyperlinks created between documentsproduced by iClass, a live lecture capture system build upon the capture module.

    Interaction alternatives for linking everyday presentations.

    Live presentations such as meetings or lectures can be captured in instrumented environments towards producing hyperdocuments corresponding to the information presented in the live session. However, a given presentation is usually related to other captured sessions as well as to other documents available to the overall group. Therefore, there is a demand for operations that allow the linking of the related documents both before and after a live presentation takes place. Moreover; the availability ofsuch operations during the presentation provides a unique opportunityfor the identification oflinks in the live context itself.

    Provision of contex information to CSCW applications: a web service approach.

    To tackle the demand for support to building CSCW applications, one approach has been the provision of reusable components and infrastructures that deal with factors such as synchronization, communication and access control. In particular; regarding the CSCW applications necessity ofusing context information to adapt their services following users and groups needs, the literature has reported the provision of models and associated implementations that allow applications to specify, share and report relevant context information. We propose that context-aware CSCW applications can take advantage of the benefits provided by Web Services, alleviating differences in heterogeneous environments and allowing the interchange ofinformation between applications and infrastructures. We present the Context Kernel Web Service, which models classic dimensions for context information. We also show how typical operations demanded by CSCW applications can use the Context Kernel Web Service to store, retrieve and exchange context information via the Web.
